Long Lost Labor Day Camping Post!

Better late then never right?? I knew I had a draft saved in here somewhere. It's not even the whole post trip though. I apparently still have more to do! But in the meantime, and in case I never get the chance to finish it up, here is what I do have. Brief re-cap- For labor day weekend, we were able to go to our Y's local camp Weona for a 3 day weekend, all lodging and food included. We had a lot of fun. Our friends, Gina & David and their kids came along as well, and had the cabin next to us. We stayed up late, sat by the fire, chatted, ate, went horse back riding, did some archery, Caden went zip lining, all the kids went horse back riding, did arts and crafts, went canoeing & fishing among lots of other things! Despite 2 days of rain, and freezing cold temps, we managed to mangle though it all alive. We look forward to hopefully going for Memorial Day weekend as well this year!

Caden & Colin picking beds.
Hanging out in the cabin
Courtney chose the top bunk ~ posing on it as well.
I am a loser, and took 2 mattresses off the bunks, put them on the floor together and make a full size bed for Mike and I. I for one am very claustrophobic and secondly, there was NOT enough room for me on one those tiny things. Nor was my large body going to try to CLIMB up to the top bunk. The floor it was. :-)
The pool that we didn't even come close to using since it was FREEZING the whole weekend.
Arts & Crafts time!
The boys painting.
That's our cabin WAY up there at the top of the hill!
And that's our bathrooms WAY down there at the bottom of the hill! LOL Not so fun at 2am.
Fishing in the lake. The boys loved this!!
Putting the worm on the hook for Caden.
I was so impressed that Colin actually enjoyed something so calm and relaxing. He just sat there and waited. It was getting SUPER cold at this point too. You can tell by the water how windy it was out.
David & Caden hanging out.
One of the other kids caught one!
Daddy & the boys fishing!  ~ I like this picture of them.
Caden & David
So as we were JUST having fun fishing, in comes the HUGE rainstorm!! But look at what it left behind, this super pretty double rainbow. I have to say, we've seen MORE double rainbows this summer/fall then ever before. Even on Vacation in Colorado, Mike and I saw a few.
Bedtime~ The boys were cold and wore out and it wasn't hard to get them to bed at all. It was FREEZING in the cabin though. the next morning (Gina and David) drove out to Walmart and got space heaters for our Cabins. It was MUCH better that 2nd night!

Courtney & Liz playing games. Liz actually ended up moving in with us, and stayed in our Cabin the whole weekend. It worked for the girls, so it was fine.
Day 2 ~ It was SUPPOSED to be nap time. This is what did instead. Lets climb shelves!

Liz however did take a nap ~ But when it was time to wake her up for dinner, leave it to Mike to do it with shaving cream!
Gina & David, waiting to go horse back riding.
Mike and I waiting our turn.
Pretty horse!
Gina & I
Mike and I all geared up ready to go!
Ride Mike!!
I LOVE horse back riding......

Riding the circle.
I guess this is all I managed to upload so far. there is still so much more. Caden zip lining was the best part!

From the Mouth of Babes

Yesterday was Week 1 of 22 of  the {Incredible Years} Parent group at Colin's school. I pick up the kids right from work, and head right back to school, so it's a pretty busy day, not getting home until after 8 typically. Well yesterday, when we arrived, Colin and I needed a potty break. As we were waiting in the hall, Colin was counting doors and a Very {pregnant} women walks up in front of us, not realizing that we were in line. So i told her, no problem, you can go (being very very pregnant and all) Colin is standing next to me, STARING at this poor lady. Giving her his confused worried eye looks (those of you who see Colin alot know what look I am talking about) So he pulls my hand, and points to her belly and says, Mom, how came her has one boob????   I wanted to die laughing. I told him that's a baby in there. He was FLOORED!! He was SO determined that is poor lady had just (one) very {large} "boob", he didn't quite get that a baby was in there. So thinking back, since Colin's been around, we have never really been around anyone who's been pregnant, so he really wouldn't know a person who is expecting or not. I carefully explained to him, that the baby was in the belly "cooking" not yet ready to come out yet. He asked a ton of questions, One asking me if HE cried when he was in my tummy. The whole conversation was too funny, and I am really hoping this poor lady wasn't offended that my 3 year old thought she only had {1 boob!}

Christmas Already???

Is anyone else already starting to think about Christmas? Unfortunatley, I know I already am. Picking up small things here or there, just so we're ready and not too far behind when December rolls around! So depressing isn't it??  So I've starting compiling lists for the kids on the right side of the blog. The kids honestly do not need ANY toys, they have entirly too many if you ask me. So the toys on the list might be far and few between. And of course, we do have to save some things for Santa as well. Courtney is at the age, that she has NO idea what she wants, and it's even harder for us, because there is nothing she really needs either. Gift Cards are the best option for her, so she can pick out her own clothes. Most of the time, if you get her clothes, chances are she'll never wear them. Just a head's up. PJ's for all 3 kids are always good ideas, as well as socks. Courtney loves neat, fuzzy socks too, so that's another idea. As I think of things, I'll add to it, so make sure you check the list before you buy anything. And of course, please let me know if you did buy anything off the list as well, so I can take it off.

Hope everyone has a great Fall!

Girl Scout Cookie Time!

It's that time again! Courtney after taking a year's hiatus to focus on cheer leading, has once again decided to re-join her Girl Scout Troop. I am actually pretty excited, because I too enjoyed it. As did Mike when he was able to take her on some trips/activities as well! We figured we only have a full month of cheer left, and after that one 2 or 3 Saturday competitions. This will be that winter getaway that everyone needs! This year the girls are Cadettes and will be working on the Silver Award. This is pretty high ranking and will take them about 2 full years to earn. Once earned though, your noticed in the community and it's a great addition to a resume etc.

There are 5 requirements to earn this award, they are as follows:
Earn 3 Interest Project Patches that relate to the silver award project
Earn the From Dream to Reality Actitivites path
OR
Complete 5 C areer Exploration Activies from the IP book
Earn the Cadetter Girl Scout Leardership Award
OR
Earn the leadership Intereste project patch
Earn the Cadette Girl Scout Challegen
Finally ~ Design and Carry out a Girl Scout Silver Award Project.

As you can see this is pretty detatiled and in depth and the girls will be working quite hard at making this happen!  Once all steps are complete, they actually have to fill out an appliaction  and an award cover sheet for final approval! In the end when all is said and done, there is a ceremony and the girls are awarded this special pin. I know the girl will really enjoy working on this together!
