Sensory Friendly "UP"

I am so super excited this! Before this movie even came out I had seen previews and knew it would be something I wanted to see. I also contemplated taking Caden along. He has never been to a movie theatre before, for obvious reasons. I was hoping though that we could go and make the best it. Well I got a couple emails from a couple friends and then again in some Special Needs newsletters that I am a part of. So one of the local movies theatres by us has decided to become part of the family of theatres in the US that shows "Sensory Friendly Films" for special needs families! This special showing, which is at 10:00am this Saturday caters to families with special needs that are unable to attend regular showings. A sensory friendly show consists of the following:

A safe & accepting environment for individuals with autism and other disabilities.

Lights are turned up and the sound is turned down

Your able to bring in your snacks (gluten and casein free for those on special diets)

No previews or advertisements prior to the show

Movie theatre etiquette is NOT enforced. The children are free to dance, walk, shout out or sing during the movie. AMC's Silence is Golden policy is NOT enforced unless the safety of the audience is in question!

Our local theatre would like to make this a monthly event, and this will be the first "test" run with it. The tickets are also only $4 a person, which is amazingly cheap!! So Meema is going to watch Colin for us and we'll be taking Caden and Courtney to see the show (as long as Mike isn't working nights still that is!)

That is so cool! wow. It really is. I hope they continue to do it. Maybe it would be ok to take Col to that, since he could roam if he wanted...
