Caden with no socks!

This past weekend Caden actually went to sleep without socks on for the first time! This is HUGE for him and his sensory issues. So since he didn't already have them on, once he got dressed no one put them on him, then without thinking he actually went out side BAREFOOT! Wahoo! Of course it didn't take long for him to realize it and want socks on, but of course he got them wet not long after, so back to no socks we went. I did try to take the next step by putting sandals rather then sneakers on his feet- that didn't go over well. I got them on after a fight and then he just stood there screaming NO! NO! NO! as loud as he could. He wouldn't even take a step in them, eventually he just took them off and that was that.

None the less, I am impressed with the progress. He has also been putting together 2 word sentences. This too is a HUGE for him. It takes him a second to think about what words it is that he wants to use together, but does manage to get out "mom / dad home" when I get home from work (or mike) and "were home" when we pull in the driveway together. If you ask him if he did something his usual answer now is "no Col di" meaning I didn't do what I shouldn't have done mommy honestly, It was Colin. So he's getting there. Tomorrow is the beginning of a new school year for both Courtney and Caden. Courtney begins year 2 in middle school (oh good god I feel old thinking like that!) and Caden's fall therapies begin back up from a 2 week hiatus. Tomorrow were off to an early start with Occupational beginning at 8:30am..... Maybe we'll be doing jammies for that session!
